Brief

As one of China’s largest automotive manufacturers, Changan set its sights on the UK as part of its European expansion. With the launch of its electric vehicle range – starting with the Deepal S07 – the brand needed to establish credibility, visibility and trust in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving EV market. We were appointed to lead communications and brand positioning, helping to introduce Changan as a serious global contender – not just another new entrant.

Idea

Woosah positioned Changan as a credible and future-focused automotive brand by building a strong narrative around its global expertise, innovation, and long-term commitment to the UK. This was brought to life through a targeted media strategy and executive profiling that placed the brand at the centre of conversations about the future of mobility.

 

We secured interviews for Changan’s UK MD within titles such as the FT, The Times, Independent and Bloomberg, building initial brand awareness and strong pre-launch momentum. An exclusive event took place in Birmingham – home to Changan’s R&D Centre – with media and influencers getting behind the wheel of the Deepal S07 for a day-long driving programme before an evening reception.

Impact

Changan launched into the UK with immediate visibility and a clear, confident market position. Strong media coverage and thought leadership helped establish credibility quickly, laying the foundation for long-term growth in the UK EV market. Over two days, more than 60 test drives had taken place, with a further 25 registrations – demonstrating high interest in Changan and its first vehicle. Media reach was extensive across national, trade and consumer titles.
